Detox drinks have a ton of health benefits depending on their ingredients but here is the truth: they do not magically help with weight loss. There, I said it. Sue me if you want to.

The most common ingredients we come across are fruits, lemon, gooseberry, ginger, garlic, bittergourd, chia seeds, cucumber, tulsi, etc. These ingredients are loaded with micronutrients and antioxidants which –

  • Aid in digestion
  • Stimulates metabolism
  • Ensure better absorption of nutrients from the food you eat
  • Balance fibre intake
  • Help with hydration

They are however not a standalone solution to weight loss or if I have to be more precise – fatloss. You still need to be on a calorie deficit with regard to your food intake to lose fat. The weight loss you observe upon consuming detox drinks is usually water loss.

But when you club detox drinks with a calorie deficit, you are naturally supplying micronutrients which help with general health and energy levels. Your liver and kidneys are the real detox engines and are fantastic at their job. All you need to do is aid them with a good balanced diet!
