Everytime we exercise, a compound called lactate is produced in our body which is a result of breaking down of glucose in the absence of oxygen; it happens when our muscles need energy faster than oxygen can supply it. This does not happen with just any exercise, it happens only when we do high intensity exercise like lift weights, sprint, HIIT, etc.
Now here’s the cool part: lactate isn’t just a “burn” byproduct. It is known to
- Support brain health by helping with learning and memory by boosting neuron production
- Possibly help with better resilience to stress – oh don’t we all need that!
- Contribute to metabolic stress in muscles, which plays a role in muscle growth – aka better strength!
- Influence cellular processes that keep our body adapting and thriving – which means, slower ageing!
I started exercising 12 yrs ago simply because I enjoyed it. Honestly, even I didn’t know exercise has so many benefits until I felt it myself overtime.
Ofcourse, none of this happens over night, or even in a week’s time. It is a compound effect seen only with consistency.
I started my journey even without knowing all this. What is stopping you from trying it?
